India Opens Largest Slipway Cradle
India has inaugurated its largest government-owned 250-tonne slipway cradle in Kochi, built by the Fishery Survey of India at a cost of ₹1.78 crore. The facility can haul, launch, and service up to six vessels at once, supporting fishing, research, and Coast Guard operations. Officials say the project boosts India’s sustainable blue economy by improving marine maintenance capacity and ensuring the safety and longevity of modern vessels.
